New York residents know that many different types of vehicles such as cars and trucks travel on the Long Island Expressway as well as the other main roads in New York City. In such circumstances, a negligent driver operating a motor vehicle on the road can cause a car accident and catastrophic injuries.
In New York, an auto accident involving three cars and a dump truck occurred recently. The truck allegedly rear-ended a car, which caused a pile-up. Additionally, one car flipped over in the incident. One of the car accident victims hit in the crash stated that the truck driver should be blamed. The witness said that the truck driver should have been aware of the other motor vehicles even before hitting them from behind. Following the auto accident, the witness took his phone and shot a video, which he later showed to police officers at the scene. The witness believed that the truck driver was speeding at that time.
A 73-year-old man sustained serious injuries in the car accident and was transported to Stony Brook Hospital where his condition later improved. He is now declared to be in fair condition. Two more people were injured in the crash. Suffolk County police officers are looking for the truck driver who allegedly caused the accident and fled the scene. The collision remains under investigation.
The case exhibits the outcome of negligent driving. In general, drivers are responsible for ensuring road safety and complying with the traffic rules and regulations while operating a motor vehicle on a public road. Drivers are required to comply with these laws so that accidents that may cause injuries can be prevented. Reckless drivers will be liable for damages in the event of auto accident.
Car accident victims may wish to seek the aid of a legal professional in order to collect due compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering caused as a result of an accident. A legal professional can help victims receive compensation so that they are properly taken care of for the duration of their recovery.
